Shell Overseas Investment B.V., (wholly owned subsidiary of Shell plc), signed an agreement with Aditya Birla Renewables Limited (ABRen) to sell 100% of Solenergi Power Private Limited for $1.8bn. The transaction value is subject to customary adjustments at closing, and is expected to complete by end-2026. This includes the Sprng Energy group of companies which supplies solar and wind power to electricity distribution companies in India and has a portfolio of 5GW peak assets. Shell is divesting its full interest in the entity, including its physical assets and commercial contracts. Shell noted that India remains an important market, where it operates a fully integrated gas value chain. ABRen is the Aditya Birla Group’s dedicated renewable energy platform, operating a diversified pan-India portfolio spanning solar, wind, hybrid, floating solar, and battery storage projects.
Shell’s 6.375% 2038s were trading slightly weaker at 107.4, yielding 5.5%.
